About Us:
Felton Hardware is a three-generation family owned business.
Leon & Mabel Jean Donovan purchased a small little hardware store in Felton in 1962, and it has grown in the family over the last 60 years.
Felton Hardware has all the nostalgia of an old-time hardware store, but it’s fully stocked with tools, materials, and supplies at competitive prices.
Leon began his time in hardware working for his Uncle Eddie at Taylor’s Hardware in Harrington. Later on, he stepped out on his own & bought Felton Hardware from Marion McGuinness, it’s former owner. He & Mabel Jean spent their lives serving the community & helping friends & family.
Leon was the heart & soul of the hardware store, & his quiet, steady wisdom is much missed. Mabel Jean was known for her no-nonsense personality. They went home to be with Jesus in 2019 & 2022.
Leon’s son Rod took over the business in 2012 and has continued building the family legacy of serving the community for over 20 years.
If you visit the store, you’ll probably find Rod chatting and joking with customers, and pulling from the well of his 50 years of hardware store wisdom. Rod’s wife Sharon also sometimes helps, filling stock on the shelves, and keeping our springtime flowers watered & healthy.
Rod’s son Alex has been a fixture at the store since he was 5, and he’s learned the ins & outs the hardware store over the past 30 years.
You can usually find Alex answering problem solving for customers, managing inventory, and tying up loose ends. His wife Kate is the resident techie, and can sometimes be found in the office working on the computer.
The rest of our team is made up of a crew of steady & devoted members, some of who have also been with us for a very long time.
Wesley Dill leads the pack of long-term crew members having been a fixture at the store for over 20 years.
Barbara Landrum is a tremendous asset in inventory management.
Randy Dill is the quiet, steady fixture helping everything to run smoothly in the background.
Sara Burton brings enthusiasm to the sales floor.
Robin Andino is a master fire-fighter who still finds time to help his local hardware store on the side.
And our current crew of teenagers (Jordan Deputy, Wyatt Freeman, and Will ) are busy helping stock shelves, guide customers, pump propane, and the like — All while absorbing a little bit of good ole’ fashioned hardware values.
